BALLINDALLOCH ‘THE CASTLE’ LIMITED EDITION RELEASE 70CL

Ballindalloch ‘The Castle’ Limited Edition Release

Inspired by the historic Ballindalloch Castle, this limited-edition single malt marks a unique collaboration between Ballindalloch Distillery and bestselling crime writer John Sutherland, celebrating the launch of his thriller, The Castle.

Limited to just 2,400 bottles worldwide, this release introduces an exciting new dimension to Ballindalloch's whisky-making repertoire as the distillery's first lightly peated expression. It retains the distillery's characteristic fruit-forward spirit while introducing a subtle layer of smoke.

Matured in a selection of first- and second-fill bourbon casks from 2015, the whisky gains additional complexity from second-fill casks that previously held peated whisky. This creates a delicate smoky influence that complements rather than overwhelms the natural sweetness of the spirit.

The nose offers sweet honey, vanilla and fresh orchard fruits, with notes of apple and pear alongside a gentle hint of smoke. The palate develops into creamy vanilla, caramel and ripe fruit, supported by soft spice and toasted oak. The finish is smooth and lingering, with sweet fruit, warming oak and a delicate smoky character.

Bottled at 50% ABV, without chill filtration or added colour, The Castle is a distinctive release for whisky enthusiasts looking to explore a lighter, more understated expression of peat from Speyside.
