The third annual cask strength release from Lochlea Distillery marks a bold step forward – and a smoky new direction. Matured in a combination of oloroso sherry butts and Islay peated casks, this is the first time the distillery has introduced peat into its limited-edition series, and it's been led from start to finish by Lochlea’s master blender Jill Boyd.
The result is a complex, full-bodied dram where rich red fruits and treacle collide with savoury BBQ smoke and warming spice. It's bottled at a robust 59.8% ABV with no chill-filtration or added colouring.
Juicy cherries, ripe red berries, smoky bacon crisps, and a wisp of sherry-soaked oak.
Bold and warming – ginger cake, dark sugar, charred rye bread, and smoky molasses, all wrapped in soft fruit.
Long and layered, with oaky tannins, baking spice, rose petals, and a lingering lick of salty Islay smoke.
