A beautiful Lochlea single malt Scotch whisky here, aged in a single cask that previously contained Islay whisky. We can't say from where. Neat that Laphroaig legend John Campbell works at Lochlea these days though, right? Anyway, this expression was filled in April 2019 and bottled in October 2023 at a big 61.5% ABV, without chill filtration and with its natural colour. Pure, unadulterated, Lochlea flavour here. Get it fast, though, there's just 248 individually numbered bottles.
Nose Cinder toffee, apple tart, cinnamon, and bonfire smoke.
Palate Black pepper, toasted oak, salted caramel, ash, sweet popcorn, and orchard fruit.
Finish Slight coastal, smoky elements drift off as sweet toffee and pears linger a little longer.
